Thrae: Episode One - Initial Stirrings

Thrae is a utopia. No one has to hunt, scavenge, or fight another being for food, clothing, or shelter. Everyone is free to pursue the life they see fit. Accidental deaths apart (almost exclusively due to the departed being the victim of a natural disaster), old age is the only killer. Share and care, a phrase copyrighted by a major cybernetics corporation, is the ubiquitous motto of humankind, and it is used and followed freely.

Share and enjoy is almost, but not quite, entirely unlike share and care

Moon is the only natural satellite of Thrae. There are smaller space bodies in orbit, but the debate about them being “moons” or not goes on, more often than not, Quite Interestingly and entertainingly.

Moon hosts a million-odd humans. They are self-sufficient. People go to and fro between Thrae and Moon as a matter of routine. Most trips are for pleasure and the rest are for business. Food and material production is the bread and butter, so to speak, of most people. Creativity and culture are also highly regarded, because these two life pursuits yield great value. Technological advancers are the next big chunk of people. They are the critically driving force behind the establishment of Aidni, the first settlement on Mars, which began taking shape a decade ago.

The spaceport of Aidni was where all inhabited ships landed. Selina piloted her craft to the landing pad. As the ground crew began unloading the cargo, she made her way to the central guidance pod. Exchanging pleasantries with the people there, she asked them Kafa's whereabouts.

Next episode: Selina & Kafa inspect the newly-constructed conservatory in the base. Something's off about the way the lead botanist answers their questions...

[Nb (Latin for nota bene; note well): please consider supporting me with coffees or beers (which we can enjoy together, albeit virtually, given the 'global' pandemic that continues to rage in India) so that I might write & record more such sci-fi action series, like Something Has Been Done.]
