Secret Invasion E6 Home

Finally, the season finale of Secret Invasion is here. I didn't get a chance to record my review of Episode 5 of this Marvel Phase 5 series but hey, there ain't nothin' I can do to turn back time unless I get the Time Stone. So until that timeline runs into mine, here we are at the end of Marvel SI.

As usual, let's begin at the beginning, like the Red King - or the Green King, as far as Skrulls go - said in Alice in Wonderland, and then stop.

The middle episodes were middling affairs, spy-game covert-ops type melodrama for the most part, but this finale should go out with a bang.

Ok then, on with the previously on. And it's quite lightning quick! Nice.

The episode runtime is just over half an hour, so that's pretty short too.

And in the first fifteen minutes, it seems like Gravik has defeated Fury.

But spy-Sonya is getting close to capturing / revealing Rhodey to POTUS.

And just as Gravik absorbs all sorts of super-powered DNA into himself, the twist in the tale is revealed. It wasn't Fury at all, it was Super G'iah! :)

The real Fury has been helping spy-Sonya point a gun at Rhodey's head.

While super-duper-power-cocktail-pumped-up G'iah and Gravik battle, Fury tries to convince POTUS Dermot Mulroney that Rhodey is a Skrull. I think this was a time waste, since Sonya had just lopped off a Skrull's finger earlier in the series to prove that he was a green shapeshifter.

Anyway, artificial tension builds to the point where the American nuke missile is about to launch, but of course G'iah kills Gravik and Fury kills the Rhodey impersonator - wonder why they didn't do that to save time.

Anyway, all's well that ends well, and all the kidnapped peeps are saved.

POTUS declares Skrulls to be enemies; Fury returns home to his "wife."

G'iah and Sonya team up; they go to a warehouse full of memory-taped people. I assume they are setting something up for later seasons, maybe.

Stupid humans kill some Skrulls and some humans, Skrulls kill some.

Fury is about to go back to SABER in space when his wife approaches.

The space elevator descends, and the kissing couple depart the Earth.

There are no mid or post credit scenes, not even a "Fury will return."

So I guess that is the end of that, and Phase Five is off to a good start.

Check out my thoughts and reactions to Moon Knight + other MCU! :)
